Lucas joined Bell Baker in 2023. Prior to joining Bell Baker, Lucas practiced insurance litigation at another Ottawa firm, and has acted for both plaintiffs and defendants, from large institutional litigants to small businesses and homeowners. Previously, he practiced criminal law at a Toronto law firm. He also practices in the area of environmental law. Lucas has experience at every stage of the litigation process, and has litigated motions, trials and appeals at the Ontario Court of Justice and Ontario Superior Court of Justice, as well as the License Appeal Tribunal. Lucas takes pride in taking the time to understand his clients’ concerns and priorities, and in providing advice tailored to their circumstances.

Lucas works diligently and efficiently, and advocates passionately on his clients’ behalf. He understands that clients need to know their legal risks and the options available to them, and works collaboratively with clients to ensure that they remain fully informed and engaged in their case. When not litigating, Lucas can usually be found outdoors enjoying Ottawa’s beautiful rivers, lakes, trails and bike paths with his young family.
